Responding to various challenges and its growth, WWF-Cambodia, initiated in February 2018 an Organizational Assessment/Organizational Development (OA-OD) study to strengthen its capacity to more effectively and efficiently achieve its conservation goals.

An organizational assessment was undertaken to diagnose the challenges, issues and problems, threats and opportunities besetting the organization. The OA was done through sets of survey monkeys administered online, key informants’ interviews and series of meetings, dialogues and workshops. As the organizational assessment was done more through participatory way or self-assessment, it stimulated teamwork, reflections, learning and dialogue. The approach helped build organizational capacity to make self- assessment, examining old and emerging problems and generating ideas and solutions to address challenges.

The organizational assessment also provided an opportunity to look at the organization on a whole-system perspective and how different parts interact towards making the organization a high performing international organization.

After an intensive effort put into this process, OA report and Action Plan/ Organizational Development plan has been finalized and communicated to all staff. A summary version of the OA report has also been developed and shared to the network offices.

Way forward for the process is to formulate a change management team to implement AP/OD plan, in which the team consists of Country director, Conservation Director, HR/Admin/IT Manager and Finance manager. Most importantly, securing resources to implement the plan is very crucial to move it into action. Moreover, to ensure the plan is being on track, monitoring needs to be done in every 3 months to see its progress against the plan.
