2026–2030 Office Strategic Plan Workshop Outlines Ambitious Future for WWF-Cambodia

“Our Office Strategic Plan will provide us the direction we need to succeed, lighting the way for the next five years. We will invest our resources and energy where it matters the most to fulfill our organization’s mission: protecting Cambodia’s forests, rivers and wildlife for all.”

Phnom Penh, Cambodia – Today marked the conclusion of WWF-Cambodia’s Office Strategic Plan Workshop, a three-day endeavor to shape our new five-year country strategy. As the year 2030 approaches, the Office Strategic Plan will forge a clear path guiding our organization’s conservation priorities, preparing us to make impactful, inclusive change for people and the planet.

The workshop gathered input from over 40 national and regional WWF staff, welcoming participants from Laos, Vietnam, Thailand and Hong Kong. Diverse voices from our Asia-Pacific team, International team and on-the-ground field team brought wide perspectives and expertise to the workshop discourse. Together, the group developed ambitious and measurable conservation targets that reflect our science-based, people-centered approach to protection of nature. Discussions also carefully considered how we can contribute to national development goals, global conservation frameworks and WWF’s Roadmap 2030.

Our Mekong Flooded Forest landscape, Eastern Plains Landscape and Footprint teams initiated the workshop on Monday, 28 April 2025 with their 2026–2030 programme designs. Their presentations led to productive consultations that sharpened conservation goals and strategies. After identifying WWF-Cambodia’s desired impact, we tackled organizational management and sustainable financing priorities to realize our aspirations. Moving ahead, breakout sessions helped team members reimagine how our internal functions can best support WWF-Cambodia’s mission, including Resource Acquisition; Communications; People and Culture; Finance, Administration, and IT; and Planning, Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning (PMEL).

In the final hours of the workshop, WWF-Cambodia constructed an approximate costing for the Office Strategy Plan, preparing us to hit the ground running to achieve our goals. When departing this afternoon, participants brought invaluable insights with them, including the importance of high-quality indicators, risk management, equity and social inclusion.

Mr. Vibol Chap, WWF-Cambodia’s Country Director encouraged us to keep the spirit of our mission at the core of our country strategy. “Our Office Strategic Plan will provide us the direction we need to succeed, lighting the way for the next five years. We will invest our resources and energy where it matters the most to fulfill our organization’s mission: protecting Cambodia’s forests, rivers and wildlife for all.”

Team members will spend the coming months gathering feedback from critical partners and stakeholders on our Office Strategy Plan, helping us put our best foot forward into 2026.
