The Mekong Dolphin Swim: Making Waves For Cambodia's Iconic Irrawaddy Dolphins

Posted on February, 13 2025

A 120km swim down the Mekong to raise awareness and funds for dolphin conservation.

From 17-20 March 2025, a team of Cambodian and international conservationists will take on a remarkable challenge, swimming a 120km relay down the Mekong River to spotlight Cambodia’s critically endangered population of Irrawaddy dolphins (Orcaella brevirostris) and raise funds for their conservation and protection.

The Mekong Dolphin Swim will bring together a consortium of organizations led by the Royal Government of Cambodia’s Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries (MAFF), supported by the Fisheries Administration, WWF-Cambodia, Marine Mammal Commission, Sarasota Dolphin Research Programme, IUCN Cetacean Specialist Group and Ocean Conservation Namibia.
