Cow-Raising Training Empowers Chrouy Banteay Commune

Posted on September, 02 2024

Despite the potential for agricultural growth, many farmers lack the essential skills and knowledge for effective cattle management. Additionally, the absence of proper vaccination and health care for livestock hampers productivity and income potential. Addressing these issues through targeted training programs is crucial to enhancing cattle management, improving livestock health, and boosting the overall prosperity of the community.
From August 20 to 23, 2024, Toul Prict and Khsach Tub villages in Chrouy Banteay Commune witnessed a significant boost in local agriculture through a comprehensive cow-raising training program. Organized by WWF-Cambodia in collaboration with the Provincial Department of Agriculture, Forestry, and Fisheries (PDAFF), this four-day training was designed to empower local farmers with essential skills and knowledge for effective cattle management.

Training Highlights:
  • Participant Engagement:The training brought together 47 dedicated members of the local cow bank group. These participants were introduced to advanced cattle breeding techniques, best practices for safe and efficient breeding, and strategies to enhance cattle production.
  • Health and Safety: A key component of the training was the vaccination of 68 cows, marking a crucial step towards improving livestock health and ensuring the long-term productivity of the herd.
  • Community Impact: The skills and knowledge gained from the training are expected to have a lasting impact on the community. By adopting improved cattle management practices, local farmers are poised to boost their incomes, enhance their livelihoods, and contribute to the overall prosperity of Chrouy Banteay Commune.
Looking Forward:

The successful completion of this training program represents a milestone in our ongoing efforts to support and uplift rural communities. As the newly trained farmers implement their new skills, we anticipate a ripple effect of positive change, leading to healthier cattle, increased production, and stronger local economies.
